Will Amtrak finally get decent funding?
HR6003, the “Passenger Rail Investment and Improvement Act of 2008″ was introduced to the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee on May 8th. The committee approved the $14.4 billion bill on May 22nd; if would authorize the money over a five year period.

Cheaper metals proposed for coins
On May 8th the U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill to change the composition of pennies and nickels, for an estimated cost savings of approximately $100 million annually for at least the next ten years.
