NIH Announces New Program to Develop Therapeutics for Rare and Neglected Diseases
The National Institutes of Health is launching the first integrated, drug development pipeline to produce new treatments for rare and neglected diseases. The $24 million program jumpstarts a trans-NIH initiative called the Therapeutics for Rare and Neglected Diseases program, or TRND.

So, according to the May 12th report of the Social Security Board of Trustees, the social security fund will be upside down in seven years, barring tough action. They didn’t say that, of course. The FY10 President’s Budget has been released
Today the OMB released portions of the FY10 president’s budget – or budgets, really, one for each federal agency. This is, of course, prelude to a months long process whereby the congress will ultimately (hopefully) pass FY10 appropriations bills that the President will sign, keeping the government funded for another year.
