The Education Department has been releasing funds to states quite regularly of late. The most recent news, from the Ed.gov Recovery site, announces over $1 billion in ARRA funds for Michigan and $301 million for Kansas. The Department of Defense (DoD) plan, as outlined on its Recovery site, is to allocate $4.26 billion to upgrade “thousands” of DoD buildings and facilities; $2.18 billion for new construction; $120 million to improve the energy efficiency of existing facilities; $300 million for R&D on energy-efficient technologies; and $555 million for homeowners assistance.
