Recovery Act latest news by agency – Commerce

Posted on June 1, 2009. Filed under: the economy | Tags: , , |

I’m taking a look at the latest Recovery Act news and opportunities by agency this week.  Today, the U.S. Dept. of Commerce.

The Commerce Department has a broad mission, and some of its Recovery Act funding is identified on the websites of its individual components.  However general information is available at its Recovery Act website, and some funding opportunities may be found here.

The most recent activity appears to be at Commerce’s National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST).  Last week NIST announced competitive construction grants for research science buildings.  NIST anticipates funding 8-12 projects, with their share of the grant in the $10-15 million range.  Eligible applicants (U.S.  institutions of higher education and non-profit organizations) are expected to provide 25% to 50% cost-sharing.

More details at www.grants.gov; funding opportunity number 2009-NIST-ARRA-CONSTRUCTION-01.  –nks
