Patent Office seeks feedback on web site redesign

OMB asks agencies to focus on science and technology in 2011

NIH Announces New Program to Develop Therapeutics for Rare and Neglected Diseases

The National Institutes of Health is launching the first integrated, drug development pipeline to produce new treatments for rare and neglected diseases. The $24 million program jumpstarts a trans-NIH initiative called the Therapeutics for Rare and Neglected Diseases program, or TRND.

The FY10 President’s Budget has been released

Today the OMB released portions of the FY10 president’s budget – or budgets, really, one for each federal agency.  This is, of course, prelude to a months long process whereby the congress will ultimately (hopefully) pass FY10 appropriations bills that the President will sign, keeping the government funded for another year.

DOE has $39 billion in stimulus dollars and $100 billion in requests

Gov. Richardson Withdraws as Commerce Nominee

Governor Bill Richardson (D, NM) announced yesterday he was withdrawing his name as nominee for Secretary of Commerce in the Obama administration.  This is apparently a response to an ongoing grand jury investigation into “pay to play” allegations against the Richardson administration.

Retirement Planning Tool from Social Security Administration

The Social Security Administration has introduced the “retirement estimator”, an online benefit calculator accessible via http://ssa.gov/estimator/
