Lily Ledbetter Bill is Law

No surprise – the Lily Ledbetter fair pay act passed both houses of congress and was signed into law. The clock keeps ticking a whole lot longer for unfair pay practice complaints now.   –nks

Wage Discrimination Bill Passes the Senate

The Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act of 2009 (S.181) passed the Senate on January 22nd and is expected to be considered in the House of Representatives this week.  The House had passed its own version on Jan. 9th  (H.R. 11; same title).

Cost of Government Financial Interventions Past and Present

The Congressional Research Service (CRS) Has just released a report titled “The Cost of Government Financial Interventions, Past and Present” (RS22956, September 23rd), highlighting ten interventions by the federal government since 1971.   Needless to say, the CRC can’t predict how the recent “interventions” will turnout for the goverment – and the taxpayers.  Thier initial conclusion?

Auto Industry Loan to Hitch Ride on Year-End Funding Bill?

Medicare bill clears Senate – and Kennedy returns

With the unexpected appearance of Senator Ted Kennedy, back in the Senate for the first time in six weeks, the Medicare bill passed the Senate on Wednesday by a vote of 69-30, enough of a margin to override the President’s threatened veto.
